When a business owner focuses on the competition, most of their time, money, and energy are all being spent trying to outdo the competition. They ask themselves questions like – how much do other businesess charge so I can price out my product or service? This is absolutely crazy. “Stop copying and start creating” please. Have you ever heard the expression “what you focus on expands” If you haven’t you should know it to be true.

Here’s a thought?

How about 100% laser focus on the customer only. Now really think about that for a second. The more I focus on the customer the more value I can provide to them. True or False? The more value I provide to my customers the more I can charge for my product or service, yes? The more value perceived or provided to my customers the more they will rave about me to others, which is the best form of advertising. “Word of mouth” right? We have all heard this before am sure. So if word of mouth is the best form of advertising then doesn’t it make sense to focus all our attention on providing the best possible experience to our valued sales force (our customer). This single yet powerful idea is enough to transform your business, think about it?

Here’s a tip:

If you utter the words that you’re better than your competition, then you’re competing!

Let the customer be the judge of who’s better. Now I know your better, I really do because everyone of us are unique we all bring our own uniqueness to the table. We know once they commit in doing business with us that they will love what we offer. So how do we get them to commit? The problem is most businesses today don’t know how to articulate their uniqueness, their difference to their market whether directly or indirectly. So if your are saying that your better, than I as a customer need to know how are you better, specifically. We all know that we only have a few seconds to capture the attention of a prospect. So its imperative for the prospect to see, hear or feel your uniqueness and value right from the get go. The million-dollar question is how can I articulate my uniqueness in all my marketing so I can capture the attention of my market. How can I be more specific?

Well lets start with these first 5 steps.

Step 1.Take the focus off the competition and put it on the customer

Step 2. Instead of being better be different

Step 3.Stop copying and start creating.

Step 4. Change from a me to business to a innovative business

Step 5. Its time to fire of the competitive mindset and hire the positioning mindset.

These are the first steps for your business to be the only!
